• Essential — when you sign in we set a cookie that keeps you signed in, plus a couple of short-lived ones during the sign-in itself. Accounts do not work without these, so they cannot be turned off.
• Functional — if you arrive through a giveaway invite link, we remember the invite code for 14 days so your referral still counts when you sign up.
• Analytics — Google Analytics tells us which pages people actually use. These are optional, stay off until you allow them, and last up to two years unless you clear them.
• Advertising — Google AdSense may set cookies when ads are shown. Google asks separately about personalized ads, so that choice is not part of the analytics setting above.

AdSense is the only display advertising we run. Links to eBay listings are affiliate links rather than ads — see our eBay affiliate disclosure for how that works.

A few things happen outside the cookie banner, so it is worth being clear about them:

• Visits while signed out— we keep a random id in your browser's storage so we can tell a returning visitor from a new one, along with rough device and theme info and any searches you run. This is not used to build an advertising profile.
• Clicks on eBay links — we log on our own servers which listing and which page you clicked from, so we can tell what is worth showing. It is linked to your account, or to the random id above if you are signed out. Details are in our eBay affiliate disclosure.
• Site speed — our hosting platform measures traffic and page loading times. This is aggregate only and is not tied to you.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the essential ones will stop sign-in from working.
