How this works
We track 24 well-known cards and 8 sealed products, and follow what they actually sell for. Cards use the PSA 10 price; sealed products use the price of an unopened one. Everything on the list is something collectors recognise, and something that sells often enough for the price to mean anything. We have only just launched this index, and we are still deciding which cards and sealed products belong in it. Expect the list to change over the next few weeks — if we add or remove something, the lines on the chart will shift with it.
What the numbers mean
Every line starts at 100. If it reaches 130, prices are up 30% since the start of the range you picked. If it drops to 80, they are down 20%. We show All cards, Vintage cards (1999–2003), Modern cards (2004–today), Sealed products separately, because old cards, new cards and sealed boxes often go in different directions.
Every item counts the same
Imagine buying one of everything on the list, then checking what the average one is worth today. That is what the chart shows. A booster box worth thousands counts no more than a card worth a few hundred, so one expensive item cannot swing the whole line on its own.
How often it changes
We check prices every day, and the chart shows one point per month. The last point is the month we are in now, so it can still move before the month ends. If a card has no sales in a month, we leave it out until it does, and we ignore the occasional odd price that looks nothing like the months around it.
